Pippa's Camp Diaries
Dear Parents and Guardians...

We are thrilled to welcome students to our 2025 half-term camps at the prestigious Rugby School! With its outstanding facilities and top-quality boarding houses, Rugby School provides the ideal environment for an unforgettable camp experience.
This year, our February half-term camp coincided with Valentine’s Day, so we embraced the theme with a welcome dinner and fun activities focused on friendship, teamwork, and kindness. From exciting sports and creative workshops to enjoyable excursions, our students will have the perfect balance of learning, adventure, and making new friends.
Friday
Our students arrived from their own boarding schools, able to relax in their new home for the next 10 days. Students have single ensuite accommodation making it very comfortable and the perfect place to unwind over the half term, or offering privacy for those wanting to study for upcoming exams.
Saturday
One of the many things students tell us they miss whilst at boarding school is the opportunity to have a lie in, so we always give our students this chance on a Saturday or Sunday. Many do take the time to rest, whilst others were up early and keen to head into the local town to explore Rugby. After lunch, students could choose from mini golf, football, tennis or studying.
Our evening social programme was cupcake decorating which enabled the students to chat and get to know each other easily.
Sunday
Once again, some students enjoyed a lie, but those feeling a bit more energetic headed over to the gym for a workout following an induction.
Later on, half our students headed out on an excursion to Birmingham for a spot of shopping and food, including a trip to the Chinese quarter for some tasty treats. The others stayed on campus for activities such as Gym and Netball or focussed on their school work at our study centre.
In the evening we had a fun game of bingo with one very lucky student winning three of the six prizes!
Monday
During the week our study centre is joined by expert tutors in Science, Maths and English. They offer 1:1s for students wanting extra help or support. These are especially useful for students with upcoming exams.
When students want to take a break from studying, there are always sports or an arts and craft activity on offer. Today we had glass art, badminton, knitting, dodgeball and a special tour of Rugby School exploring the history of the school.
A local artist joined us after supper and ran a comic book illustration class for our evening social. Students had great fun creating funny characters for their stories.
Tuesday
The study hall was full with students working hard and our tutors were fully booked with 1:1s from our students wanting extra support before their exams.
The activity choices on offer today were bench ball, art, badminton, fencing and basketball.
To unwind in the evening we had team events, where students competed in some light hearted games and hilarious challenges.
Wednesday
The morning at camp was filled with tutoring sessions alongside biscuit decorating and badminton.
In the afternoon, students had the choice between dance, clay sculpture making, self-study, or an excursion to a Rugby.
After supper, some students went to the cinema to watch Captain America, while others enjoyed a cosy movie night in the boarding house with ice cream and popcorn.
Thursday
Some of our students, seeking an adrenaline-filled day, visited Go Ape, a treetop adventure center. Meanwhile, the others stayed at camp to study or take part in onsite activities such as basketball, pottery painting, or volleyball.
Friday
Tutors joined us for the final time this camp, and were fully booked by students wanting to maximise their study time this half term.
Also on offer was a visit to Rugby Museum and Art Gallery for students wanting to know more about the history of the local area.
Later we had fencing classes and also a chef join us for a sushi making masterclass.
After supper Jessica Hartshorn, a local artist, joined us for the comic book competition finale and ran some art related games.
Saturday
As their final day of camp before returning to school, our students were delighted with the option to have a lie in or walk into Rugby town centre to get some last minute supplies to take back to school.
After lunch students students feeling energetic took part in badminton and dodgeball, whilst others went to the study centre or took part in our art class.
Today we were celebrating a student’s birthday and so after a birthday cake, we had lots of fun with some traditional party games.
