Pippa’s Europe FAQs

Many boarding schools expect parents or guardians to arrange their own transportation for Exeat weekends and Half Terms. Some schools do offer school shuttle services to nearby airports or train stations, and your child’s houseparent or the school travel team can help with these arrangements.

If you’re not able to arrange this through school, we as your guardian service can assist in coordinating travel. Be sure to book travel well in advance, especially during busy holiday periods. You can also communicate directly with the school for any special travel requirements your child may have.

If your child needs a host family during exeat and half-term holidays, please speak to your Pippa’s Europe manager, who can provide details of our vetted host families. Or you can complete the Host Family Request Form.

Once arranged, you will receive detailed information about the travel plan and the host family, including their home and family set up. Host families are located as near to the school as possible, ensuring convenient travel. These families are carefully screened to ensure they provide a safe and comfortable environment for our students.

Boarding schools typically have a well-equipped health centre staffed with qualified nurses and sometimes on call doctors. If your child falls ill, the school will provide medical care and inform you about their condition. In more serious cases, where your child needs to see a doctor or be taken to the hospital, the school will arrange this and notify you immediately. It’s important to ensure that the school has up to date information on any medical conditions and health insurance details.

If your child needs to recuperate at home, the school will work with you, but you or they may call us to assist with a temporary host family or arrange transportation home.

The school will provide you with the necessary documents, such as an offer letter, confirmation of enrolment, and proof of financial support. Most European countries, depending on the length of stay, require a specific type of visa for students, which typically falls under a “student visa” or “child study visa” category. The application process may also involve submitting proof of an Educational Guardian.

Make sure to apply well in advance, as visa processing times can vary. The school’s admissions office can guide you through the visa process and ensure you have all the required documentation. Please always ask us if we can assist with completing any Guardian confirmation paperwork.
