A member since 2006, we just passed our inspection with flying colours, but what does it mean to be an AEGIS accredited Guardian?

A member since 2006, we just passed our inspection with flying colours, but what does it mean to be an AEGIS accredited Guardian?

AEGIS is the Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students and its purpose is to safeguard the welfare of international students studying at schools, colleges and universities in the UK. Via its rigorous accreditation process, AEGIS provides peace of mind that guardianship organisations offer the very highest standards of care, allowing students to feel safe and welcome.

Gold Standard Accreditation is the most prestigious accolade that a guardianship organisation can hold, and can only be awarded if the guardianship organisation meets all of the applicable standards. Inspections are carried out by independent, trained inspectors, and involve feedback questionnaires sent to all stakeholders, interviews with a selection of school staff and students, and visits to a selection of host families who are vetted against a checklist of health and safety requirements.

As an organisation, we are measured against 160 detailed sections (70 pages!) which have to be individually visually evidenced and explained to the inspector. The whole process is detailed, comprehensive and yes, a little bit exhausting, and takes several months from start to finish. We are extremely fortunate in that Pippa’s employs the very wonderful Imogen Trevethan, our Head of Safeguarding, who dedicates her working hours to safeguarding and the AEGIS inspection. This is the reason we passed without a single recommendation. Essentially full marks!

This Gold Standard Accreditation ensures that we offer only the very highest safeguarding standards.
