Pippa's Half Term Camp Diaries
Dear Parents and Guardians...

We are excited to welcome students to our 2025 May half term camps at the prestigious Rugby School! With its outstanding facilities and inspiring surroundings, Rugby School provides the ideal environment for a focused, rewarding, and memorable camp experience.
This camp offers students the perfect opportunity to balance structured study and revision sessions with fun and relaxation. With expert academic support on hand, our students can stay on top of their exam preparation while also enjoying energising sports, creative workshops, and well-earned downtime. It’s a week designed to boost both confidence and performance, while making new friends along the way!
Friday
Our students arrived from their own boarding schools ready to settle into our half term camp, their new home for the next 10 days. With single, ensuite accommodation, they enjoyed a comfortable and private space – ideal for relaxing during the half-term break or finding quiet focus for revision ahead of upcoming exams.
Saturday
One of the many things students tell us they miss whilst at boarding school is the opportunity to have a lie in, so we always give our students this chance on a Saturday or Sunday. Many do take the time to rest, whilst others were up early and keen to head into the local town to explore Rugby. After lunch, students could choose from tennis, art and basketball or study time.
The first evening social of our half term camp was a lively cake decorating competition. Students were divided into teams and challenged to design and decorate a cake based on a surprise theme—ranging from transport and travel to sport and science. It was a fantastic opportunity for creativity, collaboration, and a lot of laughs! Each team brought their own flair to the task, with some truly imaginative (and delicious) results. The activity encouraged teamwork and gave everyone a fun break from their study sessions.
Sunday
Once again, some students enjoyed a lie, but those feeling a bit more energetic headed over to the gym for a workout following an induction.
Later on, half our students headed out on an excursion to Birmingham for a spot of shopping and food, including a trip to the Chinese quarter for some tasty treats. The others stayed on campus for activities such as biscuit decorating and Netball or focussed on their school work at our study centre.
In the evening we had a competitive game of dodgeball.
Monday
Throughout the week, our Study Centre is joined by expert tutors in Science, Maths, and English. They’re available for one-to-one sessions, offering tailored support to students who want to deepen their understanding or get extra help. Today’s academic focus included a GCSE Biology revision class, specifically targeting the upcoming multiple-choice paper.
When it’s time for a break from studying, students can choose from a range of sports and creative activities. Today’s options included glass art, pottery painting, cookery, badminton, and gym sessions, something for every interest and energy level.
In the evening, we brought everyone together for a lively camp quiz with a twist! Teams raced to answer questions correctly and quickly, earning the chance to roll the dice and advance their counters across a giant snakes and ladders board. The first team to reach 100 was crowned the winner-and rewarded with well-deserved ice creams to celebrate their victory.
Tuesday
With many of our students preparing for their GCSE exams, Tuesday morning began with a strong academic focus. Students could choose to join a GCSE Biology revision class, targeting the upcoming multiple-choice paper, book a one-to-one session with a half term camp tutor, continue with self-study, or take a break with a game of benchball or badminton.
In the afternoon, those looking to unwind stepped into the kitchen for a fun and hands-on baking session. Students worked together to make delicious cupcakes from scratch-filling the air with the sweet smell of success!
It was a well-balanced day of focused learning, active play, and creative downtime.
Wednesday
The day began with our A Level students coming together for focused revision sessions in Maths and Biology. Camp tutors were also on hand to provide extra support for those needing individual guidance. Students could also choose self-study, join a game of football, or try their hand at pickleball.
In the afternoon, the Study Hall remained open for quiet academic time, while others headed to the fitness suite or played basketball. Some students took the opportunity to explore the local town of Rugby, with a few enjoying a light-hearted round of mini golf.
Our evening activity brought plenty of laughter and team spirit as students competed in a series of fun relay races. Events included the classic wheelbarrow race, balancing a tennis ball on a racket while running, and passing a ball down the team line. It was a joyful end to a productive and active day.
Thursday
The day began with a variety of options to suit every student’s goals and interests. In the Study Centre, students could join an A Level Chemistry or GCSE Physics class, book a one-to-one session with a camp tutor, or focus on independent study.
Elsewhere on campus, students kept active with badminton, short tennis, and basketball, while others tapped into their creativity by painting portraits.
In the afternoon, those staying on campus returned to the Study Centre or joined a friendly game of rounders. For students craving a bit more excitement, an off-site trip to Coventry offered the thrill of roller skating, laser tag, and dodgems.
The evening brought everyone together to relax and unwind with a movie night. Some students visited the local cinema to watch Lilo & Stitch, while others enjoyed a cosy screening of WICKED in the boarding house-complete with popcorn, of course!
Friday
Friday brought a burst of excitement and variety to camp life. Half of our students set off for Drayton Manor theme park, where they enjoyed an adrenaline-filled day packed with rollercoasters, thrilling rides, and plenty of laughter.
Meanwhile, those who opted to stay on campus had a productive and rewarding day. Some focused on academics with study time or one-to-one sessions with our dedicated Science and Maths tutors. Others chose to stay active with a selection of sports, including basketball, dodgeball, tennis, and badminton.
The day ended on a high-energy note with a spirited game of tag rugby on the sports field-just the thing to wind down before heading to bed.
Saturday
As we wrapped up our final day of our half term camp before students return to school-many preparing for important exams-we gave everyone the chance to enjoy a well-earned lie-in on Saturday morning.
The afternoon offered a relaxed yet engaging range of activities. Students could choose to attend focused study sessions, get creative with clay sculpture in the art room, or enjoy some friendly competition with benchball and football.
In the evening, we celebrated our time together with a festive farewell pudding party! Students had fun designing their own desserts, including ice cream sundaes, fruit kebabs, and chocolate-covered marshmallows, all topped with a delicious assortment of sauces and toppings.
It was a sweet ending to a memorable week.
